Dolan and Dolan has particular expertise in the representation of lake associations, currently representing over sixty lake associations in New Jersey. Our clients range from small associations of less than twenty member homeowners to a large communities of approximately 2,000 member homeowners. In addition, Dolan and Dolan acts as special counsel to the New Jersey Coalition of Lake Associations, which is the New Jersey State Chapter of National Association of Lake Management Society. Because of this level of expertise, our attorneys are frequently invited to lecture on lake-related issues. We regularly handle a range of lake specific legal matters including dam repair loans with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, direct community assessments and other issues involving negotiations with state and local government units. Dolan and Dolan successfully argued that the obligation of purchasers to pay dues in arrears pursuant to the by-laws of a homeowner’s association apply to purchasers who take title to property pursuant to foreclosure which resulted in a reported Supreme Court decision, Highland Lakes Country Club and Community Association v. Franzino, 185 N.J. 99 (2006).
